ACTE Partners with International Organization for Migration

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been a part of ACTE’s education curriculum since 2004. At all major ACTE conferences, CSR sessions are included ranging from green and environmental issues to social and human rights issues.

Currently, the corporate travel and hospitality industries are facing an unprecedented talent gap, with many jobs being filled by the migrant labour pool, a resource which has historically been subject to maltreatment and abuse.

ACTE is working with both industry and international organizations, such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking, especially of women and children, and to offer solutions on how to promote and increase more responsible business practices.

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 125 member states, a further 16 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM activities include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of migrants' rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration.

ACTE is very pleased to be working with IOM on this serious and growing global issue. We are now officially linked on their website, and are part of a group of prestigious organizations who also advocate on behalf of this issue including Starbucks, Chevron, and Dow Chemical, as well as some European and Middle East CSR-related foundations.
